How Live-Edge Olive Wood Wall Clocks Are Made

Live edge olive wood wall clock

It starts with the wood

Every LumvinWood clock begins as a single slab of olive wood — a dense, slow-growing timber prized for its dramatic grain, warm tone and natural oils. We keep the live edge intact, so the organic outline of the tree becomes part of the design. No two slabs are alike, which is exactly the point.

Drying and stabilising

Fresh wood moves as it dries. We season each slab until its moisture content is stable, so your finished clock won't warp or crack in your home. This patience is what separates an heirloom from a souvenir.

The epoxy pour

Where the wood has cracks, voids or a flowing edge, we pour food-safe epoxy resin — sometimes clear, sometimes tinted in ocean blues or warm ambers. The resin locks the character of the wood in place forever and adds a glassy contrast to the raw grain.

Shaping, sanding and finishing

Once cured, the piece is cut to shape, then sanded through progressively finer grits until the surface is silk-smooth. A natural oil finish brings out the grain and protects the wood for years of use.

The movement

Finally, we fit a silent quartz movement so your clock keeps accurate time without any ticking. You choose the numerals — Roman or Latin — and the size that suits your wall.

One of a kind, by design

Because the wood, the cracks and the resin are different every time, the clock you receive is genuinely the only one like it in the world. Explore our wall clocks or commission a custom size.
