Choosing the Right Wall Clock Size for Your Space

Rustic olive wood and metal wall clock on a wall

Size sets the mood

The right wall clock does more than tell time — it anchors a room. Too small and it disappears; too large and it overwhelms. Here's how to get it right.

A simple rule of thumb

  • 20–30 cm (8–12"): perfect for kitchens, desks, hallways and gallery-wall clusters.
  • 35–45 cm (14–18"): the versatile middle ground — ideal for living rooms and bedrooms as a single feature.
  • 50 cm+ (20"+): a true statement piece for large walls, stairwells and open-plan spaces.

Consider the wall, not just the clock

As a guide, a feature clock looks best filling roughly 60–75% of the free wall space above a sofa, console or bed. Empty wall? Go bigger. Busy gallery wall? Go smaller and let it play with the group.

Test before you commit

Cut a circle of paper to your chosen diameter and tape it to the wall for a day. It's the easiest way to feel the scale in your own light.
